The second component is DHA (Dihydroxyacetone), a compound that reacts to the outermost layer of the skin to produce a gorgeous tan. Unlike UV, DHA does not penetrate beyond the skin's surface. DHA is the main ingredient found in all spray tanning solutions and self tanning products currently sold on the market. DHA is a molecule extracted from sugar cane or beets and made by glycerine fermentation. In its purest form, DHA is a colorless, odorless molecule hence why NUDA solutions contain bronzer.
This ingredient is the most effective component found in sunless tanning with a concentration between 1% (light) and 14% (ultra dark). DHA can be used alone or with other tanning ingredients such as erythrulose. DHA is a safe ingredient approved by Health Canada and the United States Food and Drugs Administration for external use only.
